Shanghai, China, Friday 25 March - Sunday 28 March, 2010
The 13th Interflora World Cup Competition will be held on Friday 26 March 2010 through until Sunday 28 March 2010 at the Oriental Riverside Hotel in Shanghai together with a unique spectacular floral fashion event presented by leading floral designers.
The World Cup presents an opportunity for the world’s leading floral designers to compete at an international level to a global audience.
This is the first time the Interflora World Cup Competition has been staged in China and will showcase the city of Shanghai, a fascinating city of many contrasts.
The Shanghai Media Events Co Ltd [SMEC] has been appointed event manager working under the direction of the Interflora Pacific Unit Limited World Cup Planning Team.
The World Cup will consist of four preliminary events on Friday 26 March 2010 and Saturday 27 March 2010 and the final two events on Sunday 28 March 2010. Each will be open to the public. The top 10 scoring contestants from the preliminary events will move onto the final competition round.

The Preliminary Rounds - The first event, Designers Choice is themed "Flowers on the Orient". Contestants will complete a design up to 1.2 metres deep and wide and 2.25 metres high within 2 hours.
On the same day they will have their artistic flair tested again with a "Surprise Item" which they will complete in just over an hour. This is an exciting test of how spontaneous these designers from around the world can be with only 15 minutes to view the various items presented to them and create something amazing.
The following day they will commence with a table arrangement "Green Tea for Two". A round table will be provided so they can create their masterpiece in 2 hours time with a maximum height of 2 metres.
Event Four is a bridal bouquet with no size restrictions but obviously the "Oriental Pearl" bride must still be able to carry the designers creation.
The top 10 competitors from these rounds will be challenged again on their creative flair with two more "Surprise items" to select the grand winner. Under severe constraints of time, and with competitors having only a matter of minutes to assess what items they have to work with, these challenge pieces always produce an amazing array of dramatic designs.
In addition to the dramatic World Cup competition, a floral spectacular presented as a full stage production with music, lights, costumes and models will showcase flamboyant floristry in a stunning and visual extravaganza.
