1. Leaving Foliage Below the Water Line<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the most common mistakes is leaving leaves sitting in the vase water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When foliage is submerged, it quickly begins to rot. This creates bacteria in the water, which blocks the stems from absorbing water properly and causes flowers to wilt faster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before placing your bouquet in a vase, remove any leaves that would sit below the water line. Clean water helps keep your flowers healthy and hydrated.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

2. Placing Flowers in Direct Sunlight or Heat<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

While flowers love light in nature, cut flowers actually prefer a cooler environment once they are in a vase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Direct sunlight, heaters, or heat pumps can cause flowers to dehydrate quickly, making them wilt sooner. Excess heat also increases evaporation from the vase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recutting the stems every two to three days keeps them fresh and helps the flowers continue drinking properly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
